Bookcases & Shelf Units

A good bookcase or shelving unit needs to do more than hold a row of books. Our collection of industrial bookcases, rustic shelving units and display cabinets gives you plenty of storage while bringing a mix of metal, glass and textured wood into the room.

Choose from tall industrial shelving units, narrow bookcases, low shelf units and larger bookcases with cupboards and drawers. Finishes range from matt black and distressed metal to natural and reclaimed wood, with details including fluted glass doors, mesh panels, open shelving and enclosed cupboards. There are plenty of options whether you prefer a stronger industrial look or something warmer and more rustic.

These freestanding bookcases and shelving units work throughout the home. Use an industrial bookcase in the living room for books, plants and favourite objects, add shelving to a home office for files and paperwork, or use a low shelf unit in a dining room for crockery, glasses and serving pieces. A narrow bookcase can also make good use of a smaller alcove or an awkward space.

Need somewhere to display the things you like without having everything else on show? Choose a bookcase with cupboard or drawers. Open shelves keep books and decorative pieces within easy reach, while closed storage gives you somewhere to put away the less photogenic bits.

For styling, avoid filling every shelf from edge to edge. Mix books with pottery, framed photographs, plants and a few larger objects, leaving some open space between them. Against exposed brick, neutral plaster or darker painted walls, black metal and reclaimed wood work particularly well.

This collection will suit anyone looking for industrial furniture, rustic storage or practical shelving with a little more presence than a standard flat-pack bookcase.
